USDA Secretary-designate Tom Vilsack was approved by the Senate Agriculture Committee today by a unanimous voice vote; his confirmation will soon move to the Senate floor, possibly this week. Yesterday, we wrote about electric vehicles and what that could do to liquid fuel consumption and thus ethanol. At today’s confirmation hearing, Republican Senator Joni Ernst of Vilsack’s home state of Iowa asked about the impact on fuel demand from the Biden Administration’s Executive Order calling for the federal government’s car fleet to add electric vehicles. She asked if USDA under Vilsack would be buying Telsa electric trucks, or E85 flex fuel Ford 350s. Vilsack responded that it’s not “either or”...

On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment. WPI has conducted parallel work on behalf of U.S., South American and European clients, both private and public, in the agri-food space.
