Now that the ag portion of the budget reconciliation bill has passed, there are still some big plans and major new initiatives planned by the Agriculture Committee leadership and USDA, including racial equity initiatives and climate policies. Already, several Senate Agriculture Committee members have introduced a bill for USDA to purchase farmland offered for sale, at market prices, to provide in 160-acre parcels to Black farmers. Both chairs of the Senate and House Agriculture Committees are scheduling very early hearings on climate policies. Antitrust issues are also at the top of the list with the effort lead by members of the Agriculture Committees.
