Already elevated malt prices started rising more in mid-summer when the impact of North American drought conditions became realized. The Canadian crop was down about 20 percent, and European malt faced conditions that were too wet. This occurred as post-Covid demand was building, and small craft brewers added new competition. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment.
