There is a general expectation that any potential production shortfalls in the eastern Corn Belt this season will be more than compensated by the western section. The result could be some variability in basis within different regions of the Corn Belt during harvest.The recent weather here in Iowa has been wonderful in contrast to the planting season this past spring when there were multiple regions around the state dealing with excess moisture. Since then, weather probably couldn’t have been much better for finishing the crops because there have been timely rains but no excessive heat.
