Export Sales USDA’s Export Sales report released this morning reflected larger export sales across many commodities, including the soy complex. Net soybean sales were down 9 percent from last week but were up 12 percent from the four-week average. There were 797 KMT of soybeans purchased (China was key) and soymeal sales were up, though soyoil was down. South America The rain showers falling on Argentina this week have stopped the slide in projected soybean production this year. It may also help the small portion of the crop that is not yet planted. Communicating importance of value-added products

Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
