Export Sales and Shipments for January 13-19, 2023 Wheat: Net sales of 500,400 metric tons (MT) for 2022/2023 were up 6 percent from the previous week and 84 percent from the prior 4-week average. Export shipments of 264,200 MT were down 15 percent from the previous week, but up 15 percent from the prior 4-week average. Corn: Net sales of 910,400 MT for 2022/2023 were down 20 percent from the previous week, but up 46 percent from the prior 4-week average. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
