While the extension of the farm bill passed back in November as part of a stop-gap funding measure takes some pressure off getting a final bill done, there is still a new deadline at the end of the fiscal year on 30 September. Notably, this is an election year, so Congress will be heavily scheduled to finish a lot of business before the end of the fiscal year as they will want to adjourn or recess to campaign in October prior to election day on 5 November.
