USDA released its June quarterly Hogs and Pigs report today. Pre-report expectation was for a total inventory of 72.016 million head, down 0.7 percent from June 2022, but the actual inventory was 72.4, up slightly from June 2022, but down from the last quarterly report on 1 March.
Compared to last quarter, total inventory was 99 percent, breeding inventory was 101 percent, and market hogs were 99 percent of the 1 March totals. The comparison to 1 June 2022 is in the table below.
