Growing Soybean Rust Problem in Parana Asian soybean rust can be a devastating pathogen if not adequately controlled, and agronomists in Brazil recommend that farmers spray their crop at least every two weeks as a preventative measure. However, dry periods are required for this process to be effective. Unfortunately, there has been too much rainfall in the state of Parana with 20 straight days of coverage in some areas, and that has precluded any spraying. Numerous cases of the fungus have already been detected in Parana, and it is spreading. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment.
