U.S. Soy Export Sales Highlights Export sales for the week ending 28 March were significantly higher for U.S. soybeans, and they were also up for soymeal and soyoil. However, it will take several similar weeks for U.S. soy exports to reach USDA’s forecasts for 2018/19. Net soybean export sales for 2018/19 shipment totaled 1,971,700 MT, the highest ever for the last week of March. Sales to China totaled 1,700,100 MT or 58,100 MT more than the two large sales separately reported by USDA on 29 March and 1 April. The other top sales were to Indonesia (91,500 MT), unknown destinations (65,200 MT), South Korea (59,600 MT) and Taiwan (30,600 MT). Communicating importance of value-added products

Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
