Soy Export Sales Highlight As expected, the week ending 23 July was a very good one for exporters of U.S. soybeans and a so-so week for exporters of U.S. soymeal. However, the current week has not been as good. Net soybean export sales last week totaled 257,800 MT for 2019/20 shipment and 3,344,200 MT for shipment in 2020/21. The largest sales for 2019/20 were for Germany (152,400 MT), Egypt (151,200 MT), the Netherlands (116,900 MT), Bangladesh (59,000 MT), and Indonesia (47,100 MT). Those sales and others were partially offset by reductions primarily for unknown destinations (323,600 MT), and China (59,000 MT). Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
