Transatlantic Dance Brussels and Washington are beginning to work together again. This week the EU acknowledged that America’s concern with the WTO’s appellate process has validity, and President Biden’s USTR decided against using the carousel of mixing up the products currently under retaliation in the Airbus case. Both sides are also more aligned in their messaging to Russia, and soon to emerge will be agreement on creating a coalition to deal with China. There are still great rifts that will be more challenging, but this is the trust building stage and it eventually leads to solutions on trickier items.
